This initial appointment encompasses different health aspects; weight loss and management, lifestyle change (vegan, gluten-free, etc.) and food allergies. Medical nutrition therapy counseling for; cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, hypoglycemia, PCOS, gastrointestinal diseases (celiac, ulcerative colitis, IBS, Crohns, GERD, etc.), cancer, arthritis, kidney and liver diseases, autoimmune and neurological (MS, Lupus, Parkinson's, Rheumatoid arthritis, etc.). Stages of life nutrition, pediatrics, pregnancy, lactation, menopause, and geriatric nutrition.

Initial Assessment

Benefit from Melissa's one hour nutrition counseling sessions spread out into three consecutive weeks to meet your health and nutrition goals. These sessions are comprised of a three day food record analysis, of your current diet, medical, and diet history, and an evaluation of your medications and nutrient reactions, supplement, vitamins, and herbs will be assessed. Gathering of anthropometric data (weight, blood pressure, body composition, waist circumference, etc.), nutrition and health goals. Meal plan and food quality education, provided at all counseling sessions with recommendations.

Professional Recommendation

Initiate your personal nutrition, weight, and medical-oriented goals at your therapy session. Total Nutrition Counseling focuses on receiving nutrients from whole foods with little reliance on supplements. Recommendations will be provided, and progress nutrition letters will be sent to your doctor if necessary.


These are 1/2 hour appointments that are a continuum of the initial appointment until you meet your individual health and nutrition goals.
